Color frontispiece and 11 tipped-in color plates all with captioned tissue guards. Additional black and white illustrations throughout. Beautifully bound in original, full, publisher's vellum.

Near fine condition. Top front corner bumped. Vellum covers clean with bright gilt. Binding firm. Pages clean and unmarked. Top edge gilt has small scratch.

Some copies of this edition retain an original slipcase, this one does not.

Ibsen found inspiration for Peer Gynt on the Noregian fairy-tale, Per Gynt.
