A beautiful set of the first English edition of The History of the French Revolution by M.A. Thiers, published by Richard Bentley, Publisher in Ordinary to Her Majesty, 1838, London. Translated with notes and illustrations from the most authentic sources by Frederick Shoberl.

Lovely half calf binding with gilt decorated spines, gilt page ends and marbled boards. Measures about 6.75" wide as a set, and 8.5" tall.

Spine ends a bit chipped with small losses. Spines rubbed in spots, front hinges lightly worn with some small separations at top corners. Cover edges worn. Pages have occasional toning or discolorations at edges, very occasional light foxing, signature of previous owner present, but otherwise clean and unmarked. Binding overall tight and intact.
