Of this 1987 publishing: "The Very Hungry Caterpillar was first published in 1969. Over four million copies of this beloved book have been sold since then, and it has been translated into over a dozen languages. For this new edition, Mr. Carle has made entirely new illustrations, similar to but not exactly like the earlier ones. The pictures are collages of specially prepared papers, which are first cut and layered and then overprinted with ink, crayon and tem-pera. These have been carefully reproduced using the most up-to-date technology to maintain the vibrancy of the art."

Jacket has some light toning and is a bit scuffed. Pages are clean and unmarked.
