A Gift From Saint Nicholas, Kismaric, Carole, Illustrated by Charles Miklolaycak, Signed First Edition, 1988

Sorry, this item has sold.

Lovely Christmas book from 1988, signed by author and illustrator.

"When Cecile sees the wonderful chocolate ship in Trinchen Mutser's candy shop, she dreams that it will be hers on Saint Nicholas Eve. Maybe, she thinks, if she can stay awake, she'll catch the ship as it sails down her chimney.
Alas, the chocolate Congo does not come to Cecile so easily. When Saint Nicholas and his assistant Ruprecht reach her house, they discover that they have run out of presents.
"Are you sure there is nothing left in the sacks?" asks Saint Nicholas.
"No, your Holiness, there's nothing. Why not promise Cecile that next year she'll get two or three times as many gifts?"
"Never, Ruprecht, never," Saint Nicholas answers. "I cannot possibly disappoint Cecile."
As Saint Nicholas and Ruprecht try to figure out how to solve their problem, Cecile has her own idea. She flings open the door and tells them about the only gift left in the town, the chocolate ship in Trinchen Mutser's candy shop. But the unexpected happens again, and a cast of unlikely townspeople join them in pursuit of Cecile's St. Nicholas Eve gift.
Then something wondrous happens, ending this glorious Christmas story."

Very light wear to dust jacket edges. Book clean and unmarked.
