Robert L. May (1905 – 1976) created the story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer after a request by the department store, Montgomery Ward, to write a Christmas themed children's book for them to distribute during the holidays. Initially, in 1939, Montgomery Ward published Rudolph as a softcover without pop-ups, illustrated by Marion Guild.
This very rare edition featured cleverly designed pop-ups and was published in 1950 by Maxton Publishers, New York.
This book is softcover and spiral bound. The front cover is separating from spiral at sides and attachment is overall delicate. Otherwise binding is sound and pop-ups all in working order. Occasional smudge and spot on pages.
